I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the water to create many ripples. ~ Mother Teresa

Welcome to Mrs. Ford's First Grade class!

My, my how time flies!  I can't believe I am going into my 13th year of teaching.  I am so happy to be on staff at Brackett ISD.  I taught Kindergarten for 11 years and am excited to be teaching 1st grade again this year. This is my fifth year on staff at BISD, and it is truly a great place to be.  This summer I have worked hard to create a learning environment that will be a safe and fun place for everyone to learn together.  I have a lot of fun educational activities planned for the coming year and can't wait to get started.

My personal belief is that parents are a students first teacher, and that a partnership and working relationship is an important part of your student's educational experience.  I want students to know that what he/she does in the classroom is important, and by seeing your interest in their education I know they will take great pride in what we do together.  My goal is to give them a great foundation to become life long learners, who want to be active participants in class, in their school, and in their community.

Away from school I love to spend time with my husband, our two dogs Gus and Bailey, and visit with family and friends. Although In my spare time I love to read. I know that I absolutely can NOT start a book unless I have time to finish it... yes I am one of those people who will stay awake at night reading because "just one more chapter" turns into me not putting the book down until it is finished. I no longer get to read as much as I used to because I have a little boy named Brayden and a baby girl named Brynlee that keeps me very busy.

A few of my favorite things:
color: Green
music: Country
food: Mexican or Italian
snack: Chocolate (anything milk chocolate, it is a weakness!)
drink: Dr. Pepper ( I don't drink coffee, but I have to have my Dr. Pepper to wake up)
store: amazon.com
magazine: US weekly
website: Pinterest and teacherspayteachers.com

I am excited for the start of the new school year!  Please know that I am a very big advocate of communication between home and school. If you ever have a question or concern please do not hesitate to contact me.
